Sponsoring a girl’s education at Emanyata Secondary School is a powerful way to change a life and a community! Pastoralist girls face significant challenges in accessing education, challenges that are not only rooted in poverty, but in a system that often devalues a girl’s right to learn. In many pastoralist communities, a girl’s educational journey is seen as less important than that of a boy. In addition to systemic barriers, pastoralist girls are at high risk of gender-based violence and early pregnancies, as well as many bright, motivated girls are forced into early marriage instead of being given the opportunity to attend school. These realities cut their education short and limit their future opportunities. At Emanyata, we are committed to breaking this cycle. Through our sponsorship programme, offering girls a safe space to learn, grow, thrive and proving that their futures are worth investing in.

We work closely with the Pastoral Women’s Council and local communities to identify the girls who are most at risk, those facing child marriage, gender-based violence, or other forms of vulnerability. Through careful home visits and community meetings, we ensure that only those truly in need are accepted into our sponsorship programme.
